Basket brake job

Friend "Fix" my brakes on my 1988 4X4 4 cyl fuel INJ..Toyota 148K Miles...He replaced every part...Now there are little brakes.....NEW....Front pads....New rear shoes.....New master CYL....New vacuum booster....New rear Wheel clyinders...New fluid...He has no Idea now why there are very little brakes.....
What would I expect to pay to get it all fixed...New everything....He put all autozone stuff...Took them 2 times to find the right master CYL...

Any chain you recommend?
Sorry Charlie

Might to be necessary to remove the master cyl and bench bleed it.

If there is no air lock in the master cyl, the rest of the system can often be gravity bled.

If all the new parts are correct and not damaged, I would think any competent mechanic
should be able to make it right for a couple hundred $$., Maybe less.

bleedingbreaks should cost you $60 at the shop. max. That's probably all you need as many already posted above.
If it works, you take your $1200, subtract $60, divide the rest up by all the people on here who told you to bleed your breaks. Deal?

You do use your Emergency Brake that keeps the rear shoes adjusted?

Then maybe the rear shoes were not adjusted

If they are out of adjustment your pedal travel gets worse the more you drive it

Could also be the pressure causing the hoses to balloon

Do you have any other friends that could help??

I would think any one doing brakes would know enough to bleed things but who knows.

I really lean towards the rear brakes not adjusted.

Rear brakes out of adjust

Even if I worked on brakes during the year, I have mechanic at yearly inspection adjust rear brakes since they need to look at one anyway. Those arms going through the backing plate seize up especially if what wyoming9 asked first. But, what were the conditions before the basket brake job?

I have yet to bleed a LSPV only because I have never been able to get the bleeder fitting to break loose.

My one attempt one a friends vehicle cost me a new valve.
