I recently purchased and installed a remanufactured 22re with a brand new head and gasket into my 93 4wd Toyota pickup and after only 10-15 minutes of testing it down the street we parked it and called it a night due to a injector leak, and when we returned the oil was milky!!! I replaced the engine for that reason in the first place, we checked the head bolts and they are torqued to specification and my timing cover didn't seem to be rubbed by the chain or anything, but if we try to fill the radiator it just seems to flow down to the oil pan rather quickly!! At a point where we don't know what to do, has anyone experienced this? Or have some advice please just want to get my yota back on the road!! Thankyou

 

Hopefully you have a warranty on this engine. Call where you bought it and see what they can do.

 

What parts did you reuse ? To strange the new motor would have the same problem .

 

What did you Torque the head bolts to??

Should be 65 foot pounds

Had this happen once at a shop torqued to 58 pounds look the manual says coolant just power out.

Since you bought this engine call and see what they will do

 

We torqued to 58 like the book said! We reused the timing cover,oil pan, valve cover, and intake, new head, new water pump, it came with a gasket set for everything, we've put a lot of days into it so I'm hoping there will be a fix without removing it again it's my daily driver

 

If you put the head on then that will not be warranty.

Pull the head Hope the bearings are ok.

New Gasket Torque to 65 foot pounds as long as the bottom end is ok you should be good to go.

Now that I think of it we reused the EGR could that cause milky oil if something wasn't right?

 

Reusing the EGR would not cause your problems. Toyota did later update the torque from 58 pounds to 65. Run a compression check and see what your numbers give you. Even if your intake had a crack in it, the water would go to the pistons as far as I could see. Not sure how it would get to the oil passages. Since it is the same symptoms as your last motor, I would give your intake a close look. Couldn't hurt to re inspect your other covers or parts you used for cracks.

 

With the head gasket failure the coolant can get to the oil return holes in the block.

 

Any news as to what caused the issue ?
