Slower than should be stock 22re

Ok so everyone knows the 22re is a dog. But should a 22re 1994 toyota pickup 4.10 gearing 30x9.50 MTs otherwise stock regular cab 4x4 be doing 35mph MAX up 10k' passes? Maybe I'm missing something.

What gear you got it in??
My '87 can pull most grades @ 50mph in 4th gear when lightly loaded.
It's got 276, 000 on it. With 31s' and 4.10 this is about 2300-2400 revs.
This seems to be lugging her a bit more than I like, so I often take 3rd gear and run her up around 2700- 3000 revs. Just a tad slower, but the engine likes to run a few hundred higher revs.

At 10k feet there is significantly less oxygen/less dense than at sea level, so there is less to use internally per volume... so yes its reasonable going up that your max speed is 35 mph

Thanks, I hear other people getting so much more mph up passes but they never say the actual elevation. To be fair, my tires are 50lbs ea. and I was fully loaded with a camper top and a rack on top of that. Silly question now that I think about it. I do need to check my timing though.

I guess that 8500 is the highest elevation that I have run my truck.

I went up Hoosier pass today in Colorado and it tops out at 12,000ft. My runner made up without little bogging but revving decent in 3rd. If I went to fourth it would bog and I'd have to downshift. I'd say your truck is performing normally.

I could do that before switching from 225/75 ATs to 30x9.50 MTs. I will say that the switch only took about 1 mpg away from me and the Cooper STT's preform leaps and bounds beyond my old AT's off road.

This weekend I was cutting Molas and Coalbank Pass in SW Colorado.
