Just SeaFoam'd my 3.slo

Ran a whole bottle through my brake booster vac line. Night and day difference, feels like i got 5-10 HP back, engine runs smoother, throttle response much improved. The neighbors now hate my guts. Daggum, best 10 bucks I ever spent.
Highly recommend it.

Heh, one neighbor saw the smoke and called the fire department...
All our neighbors are a mile away.

People are still doing this, huh?

After the rash of hydolocked engines because of seafoam, the trend kinda went black there.

Glad it worked out for you...

IMHO it was because people were just sticking the hose in the can. Its a very, VERY bad idea. Then the would stall the engine by jamming the hose to the bottom of the can. They would suck up too much at once and boom, ded engine. I poured it in at a controlled rate. Hold it the can at just the right angle and the suction will pull it in and atomize it, thus preventing hydrolock.

You really shouldn't run it through the brake booster... You only hit the back 3 cylinders that way. I usually crack open the cold start injector and pour it in through there

Hmm, really? I may pick up another can and run it through there. Then again, dont the back cylinders get the dirtiest due to the exhaust crossover?

Maybe but why wouldn't you want to clean all of them

I'd be interested in a step by step how to.

It's funny because I just sea foamed mine over the weekend, it always makes it drive so much smoother. I also put in a can with the oil 500 miles before an oil change all it'll clean everything out. I learned that from another member on here, you could see how much crap comes out, especially cuz I'm at 240,000 miles

+1 on brake booster only hitting back 3.

Also check out my upper plenum cleaning thread too. Gets all the carbon out of the plenum from the EGR...

A newbie question for mylittlepony1… Do you remove the cold start injector, literally pour the Seafoam into the cold start injector port, re-install the cold start injector, then fire her up?

If not and when possible, I second hockey88fan's request for step by step how to. Thanks mylittlepony1.

Visit seafoam's website. You're looking to use the brake booster or another vacuum line that will suck in the fluid.

Only if you want to hydrolock your engine... You need to very gradually add seafoam and allow the vaccuum to draw it in in largely vapor/vaporized/droplet form. Our trucks vacuum setup make that really difficult... No hose gets the front 3 cylinders. The cold start is best solution I've seen for all cylinders w/ standard seafoam. But pour to fast and you'll be doing a full engine rebuild...

That's why I'd highly recommend the spray if you haven't done it before and want improved performance but staying safe. Same amount of liquid in can and it's nearly impossible to hydrolock your engine w/ it... You can run two cans at once if you want more liquid, but I really don't think it's necessary. IMO, a hot engine and turning it off and allowing seafoam to soak a couple times is a better route than a straight pour/run through.

See my Upper Plenum Amsoil/Seafoam thread for all my recommendations in this realm.
