Sure looks like the same one that someone bought and took to Hawaii last year. If so, this is yet another ebay appearance. But this one is in WV. Can't argue about the interior, and no visible rust either.

It looks alot like the Hawaii truck but its a different truck. Sure looks nice but it sure looks crusty underneath for such a reported low, low mileage truck. The lister blames it on old undercoating but I would need to take a closer look. I also question the later style rear bumper but not a big deal, could have had a fender bender at some point in its past. I would want to see it in person if I was bidding. Real nice truck either way.

A similar truck in better condition just sold at the Mecum Anaheim show for $16k. It was a '79, I think, and with a big white roll bar.

Wow. It's prettier than mine. ...but mine only reads about 35,000 miles.

Is that a 22R motor in it?

That truck has been around so much it needs an std test! I'm not even sure it is driven it is just sold to the next person that can keep it in his garage and sell it more to the next one.

they are the original steelies and can be bought in the for sale section for cheap or craigslist. A far as the hubcaps go, they are more rare.

Nasty undercarriage, that needs to be stripped and recoated pronto. Before I read the ad, I thought it was massive amounts of rust (it may be actually). Otherwise, beautiful truck, but about to pass into payment territory that I'd never venture.

The problem with these well preserved old trucks is that you would feel like you could not use it! Well, maybe you have money to burn and would use it anyway, but the point of such a nice looking truck is to keep it that way (investment). Frankly, it makes a whole lot more sense to buy one that doesn't look so great, but has a good frame with most of the drive train in good shape, so you can fix and maintain it,

AND would not be afraid if you were out in it and it suddenly stated to rain... or SNOW!

You can buy a 90's Yota 4x4 for half that money in great shape from states like Texas and Arizona if you are just looking for a dependable nice looking truck that you can drive in mud if you need/want to.

I totally agree, if I went out and drove that thing I would be too scared something would happen that I wouldn't have any fun with it. However if you store it and take it out in 30 years, it might be worth close to a 100k!

Not SR5 though. For investment purposes, the 20R with 4speed is not as valuable in the long run. That transmission is probably turning people away.

The SR5 was not offered in the 4x4 trucks in 79 and 80, they were called Sport Trucks and only came with 4 SPD. It was strictly an appearance package with the wood grain dash, sport steering wheel and exterior graphics. The SR 5 started in 1981, appearance package plus 5 spd tranny.
