3VZE sloooooow start especially cold

Hi there, Guzzirik here. New to the forum. Iv'e availed myself of your collective knowledge for some time and finally decided to become one of you. I am/was a certified Volvo master tech. Iv'e worked on pretty much everything in my career. I love bikes. Have 12. reasonably smart. Deductive. The problem is , I have a '91 4wd pu, 3vze that stumbled at a stop sign and refused to start the next day. The problem w/owning a Toyota, as a mechanic, is that it is the one constant. They don't break!...It will start and it will run and it will get you to your destination. Which this truck did until it hit 175K. At that point, the water pump went out. I replaced all the bearings, pump, belt, ..... I checked the cold start by wrapping it in a kleenex and hitting the starter. Tissue was wet, not soaked..Sometimes ,when it won't start, I get a whiff of gas. Makes no sense because if I pull the gooseneck on the intake boot and squirt a shot of carb cleaner into, a few more cranks and it will start. Dist cap center electrode disintegrated so I replaced it and/rotor. Plugs looked like crap so replaced. Spark looks really weak in daylight. I know a lot about cars which is why I am hesitant to replace parts for no reason. Is there a problem w/coil/ignitor I don't know about? Also, the cold start timer. Whose idea was it to put all the water sensors at the back of a v6. The Japanese are a very intelligent bunch. Vindictive, but intelligent.

Have you also changed your wires as well ??.

Have you changed the fuel filter??

With this ethanol in the gas it seems I change fuel filters more often.

Your not the type who drives with the gas tank below 1/8 of a tank and getting gas still means $5.00

you know the basics !!

fuel spark air and timing

No wires as yet. I changed the filter right after the cap and rotor. It wasn't that dirty. You have to understand that this started suddenly. Overnight. Also, like I mentioned, the spark is the weakest Iv'e ever seen on a running engine. Wondering which piece of the ign. usually fails. Coil checks out resistance wise. Igniter? Don't have the gigantic banjo in my fuel guage kit needed to check fuel press. Another thing I forgot, coming home fri. it suddenly acted like it had run out of gas for a few seconds while driving down the hiway at 55.

I'll check that ground. It is near the battery, so corrosion possible. No codes, light works. You don't know anything about PowCons do you.
