How Far up the Proverbial Creek Am I
I have a 1992 Toyota pickup, 4WD, 4 Cyl Fuel Injected, 22RE, 4WD. I screwed up big time and stripped a hose connector and the threads in the housing. This item is directly behind the thermostat housing. I have two bolts on mine, this connector sometimes gets clogged with silicone and causes a surging idle (according to the guy on you tube.) Other than it's a hose connecter I couldn't find a part description. It's in the following youtube video
. Problem is I got a replacement from my local auto parts dealer but the threads on the housing are stripped, it almost slips right in and out. So can someone help shed some light on solving my dilemma? Do I need a new engine block? or engine block component? Thanks!!

Just how did you strip the threads??
Now breaking it I could understand
So the threads for that fitting are now to the point it won`t tighten any more??
looks to be in the intake manifold
A few different options to repair. Because of the location I think I would in any case pull the manifold just for room to work.
Once it is off replace with a used one ??
thread to the next larger size if possible
an other option is to drill it out epoxy making sure to use a machining friendly epoxy or weld it closed thread again
if you can not do the work your self the cheapest would be used intake manifold .

Hey Wyoming9, thanks for the response. I initially stripped the threads removing and reinstalling. I have a craftsman thread restore kit that I thought it would work not only cleaning up the valve but also the port on the lower intake manifold. I did order a used lower intake valve in decent shape, first I'll try the valve itself but to be honest the replacement ones they gave me that were 5/16 didn't work. I have a heli-coil kit you think I should mess with that or just take it my local mechanic for the install/uninstall. All the emissions lines are already disconnected, I've got new ones. There are other lines, and I've never done an intake manifold before. I'm tempted to send it away but also tempted to try it out. Me and this old girl been together a long time, lots of great memories, just got the inside restored with SEM cleaner and paint. The engine was a rebuild after I hit 275,000 miles my head gasket went shot. I put in a brand new jasper 22re at the shop and it's been sitting as my secondary for a couple years now, only accumulated 75,000 on the new motor. Any advice is good advice, thanks for the taking the time to reply.

Guess you didn't read my initial post, that's not me in the you tube video. You didn't watch it to see my trouble part, you didn't read my initial post, so basically your reply post was like **** on a bull. Useless. Thanks for posting a reply...I guess.

Now it is pretty easy to swap manifolds for some people .
Not knowing your skill level but having a mechanic do this is going to be a few hours labor at there rate.
as long as your thread replacement kit has the size to match your new fitting it should work.
Like I said to do it correct the manifold should be removed because of just where it is because it seems you got it cross threaded just installing the fitting .
To be drilling and then tapping trying to keep it all straight.
Get a used intake manifold just the lower part your good to go
Are you in NJ or just a fan maybe your close if you need help in person

So I started working on removing the lower intake manifold. Couple of questions for the experts. I assume I should replace all gaskets, should all screws also be Teflon lined? Is there anything kind of chemical I need to spray on the gaskets or just line them up and let it fly. I seem to hit a snag, I got the injectors out of the manifold but I don't think I can get the lower out without removing the fuel rail. How do I stop fuel from flowing to the rail? One of my injectors is black, should I replace the grommet and O-rings on all of them? You guys have been awesome with your insight and wisdom,. I really appreciate it!

Yes, anti-seize, I like copper spray gasket or high-tack(just a light coating to help seal imperfections), unscrew fuel filler cap to relieve pressure on tank and leaking will stop, I am not certain on injector color(pics would help), I would replace all o-rings/seals/grommets I could access....

rokblok thanks for the post. I should have been more specific concerning my injector. I realize now color is a bit of a vague description. What I meant to say was my other injectors are relatively clean, though I should still clean them, my number is two is filthy with dark black grime. I'll try what you had recommended, any ideas for disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel rail, if I do that, does air get into the system and screw things up?

Team420 thanks for the tip. I finally got the lower intake manifold off, it was a bear but I got away without damaging any bolts. I plan on installing the new one soon. I was smart about the bolts for layout but stupid about the emission lines, anyone have a 22re that they could help make me sure my vacuum lines are in the right spot? I already saw Copper spray for the gaskets, should I Teflon any of the lines?
