Evans Creek

a guy that i work with was just up at Evans Creek and a ranger stopped him and asked for a permit.
He didn't have one and the ranger told him that you need a pass to be up on the trails.
Well i guess there is some mix up.
Here is the letter my friend received from Gary Paull, wilderness & trail coordinator:

The Evans Creek Campground is a Northwest Forest Pass site. Vehicles that are parked at the site are required to display a Northwest Forest Pass. However, if you have a jeep (or street legal motorbike) and drive up to the Evans Creek area, do not park, and proceed directly onto the trail system you do not need to have a pass.

You can find a wealth of information about the Fee Demonstration project, including the enabling legislation at: http://www.fs.fed.us/recreation/prog...o/index.shtml.

Additional information specific to the Northwest Forest Pass can be found at the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest website www.fs.fed.us/r6/mbs or the Pacific NW Regional website at www.fs.fed.us/r6/rec.htm

I hope these website are helpful to you. Feel free to contact me if you need more information.

Good info Todd

Hey Todd, remember last year when I took my youngest up there and met you coming back down the road?
We had bought a permit in the little mining town there.

It's good to know now that we don't need to buy one if we are just going to explore the trails up there.

By the way, if you need a good TOPO map, I have a 1.2 MB one on the TOR server here.

How could I forget that trip? That is when my youngest said my rig had all the power of a WA. state mascot, the slug
That is when I goosed it going down the FS road, and the throttle got stuck in the hole I made in the Husky.
The Depends came in very hand that day

That will be cool. Maybe before July is over, or early August we can try.
I don't know any of the runs up there, so it would be a purly scouting run for exploring.

Videos

Everyone likes vids
Todd, don't know if you have left to go camping yet or not, but I just found these vids from last weekend from the Snort board.
They had a trail cleanup last weekend up at Even Creek.

They don't seem to stream in very well, so I saved them all to my hard drive, and will be looking at them all after this post.

More Evan's creek stuff

Just saw some more vids & pics posted on the Snort board from an Evan's Creek trip the same day we did Greenwater.

If you watch the John1 MPG, that is pretty much like the Naches trail I did a few years ago.
