I know this screw should never be tampered with, but I did anyway. This was about 9 months ago when I had problems with my AAP leaking, causing a false rich problem. Since then I remember reading about how to set it on here somewhere, and right is lean, left is rich and there was some kind of benchmark to set it by. I remember it taking me HOURS of little turns and trips around the block to get it totally perfect, but when my headgasket blew I adjusted it richer to help it run better untill I got a new gasket on.

Now its time for me to set it back, and I cant remember what I did. I know its close, but I cant seem to find the perfect spot. It seems to have a top speed of about 70ish so probably around 73 with my tires. It backfires when I let off to shift and it seems weak slightly weak up hills. I cant decide wether its too rich or too lean.

Seemed to have been rich erlier in the week, and my MPG's weren't what they used to be, so I leaned it out untill the rpm's started dropping at idle, and it seemed good there. But now its backfiring pretty hard when I shift.

I checked the timing too and I cant quite get that dialed in, but its close.

Seems i'm gonna be spending months getting my timing and mixture just right

so far I set it to alittle bit richer but even was it was leaned all the way out It sounded like it was still rich!

I'm confused i'm going to pull my plugs out tomorrow, I have a feeling the gap is off. And I have a few vacuum lines I suspect may be leaking.

so I set the mixture screw where it idles the fastest, and then set the idle screw to where it should idle?

personally on my 22re, with the adjuster on the tb, i just had it running and adjusted it up and down (lean to rich) and back until i felt it purred correctly
