Need some electrical help 85 p/u
Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.
I have a beat up 85 that is getting a new shot at life and need some help on where to look for my problem.
My coolant gauge works when it wants to, and my fuel gage works half as often as my coolant gauge. The coolant gauge will come on and work or fail, sitting still and at idle or 65mph on the freeway, it doesnt seem to matter much. Loose wire? Where would you look first?
The fuel gauge is currently stuck at 1/4, but will occationally come up/drop and read actual fuel level, so I was thinking that the sending unit is ok, but I cant find a scematic of the wiring to figure out where to check voltage for it, anyone have a wire #/color to help me out? I dont have the ability to lift the bed off to look at the sender itself.
Thanks in advance,
Jace

On the fuel gauge issue, look for two, round, yellow plastic connectors near the frame inside the passenger-side rear fenderwell. At least that's where they are on the '85 4runner. One of them is for the fuel pump and the other is for the sender--maybe you could check for signal there.
