How do I know it's I have a sr5 runner

SR5 originally stood for "Sport Rally 5-Speed (according to wikipedia), but it does not denote a specific engine or fuel system. SR5 is just an upgraded trim package. They typically have snazzier interior with more amenities and the gauge face normally will have a tachometer.

My understanding is that the transmission isn't all that relevant even though the 5 stands for 5 speed. I don't think the altimeter is part of the SR5 package either as my stepfather had an 89 SR5 V6 and it didn't have it, and I think that was just an option that anyone could choose for the extra coin.
The SR5 package applies to both pickups and 4runners, and again it really just signifies the upgraded trim package. Many SR5 4runners are actually badged that way, but I'm not sure when they started that. If your gauge cluster has a tachometer it is most likely an SR5, and if it just has the speedo, fuel, and temp then it probably isn't. At least that's my understanding...

I have the 1985 truck brochure and some things that came standard on a SR5 4x4 (and not an option for the Deluxe) were automatic locking hubs, gold or silver color-keyed spoke wheels (depending on exterior color), tungsten halogen headlights; tachometer, oil pressure, voltmeter and temperature gauge; upper shaded windshield band, full carpeting. Options for the SR5 (but not the Deluxe) were Chrome Package (chrome front bumper, grille, trim and wheel), Special Paint Package (metallic, 2-tone or gloss black paint; chrome front bumper, grille, trim and wheels), Sun/moonroof, Power Package (cruise control, power windows, etc), Sport seats, electronic AM/FM/MPX tuner with 4 speakers, cassette and graphic equalizer. But, the 1985 brochure also reads the EFI wasn't available for the Deluxe, nor the 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission ... yet I own a 1985 Deluxe with these. So YMMV.

Idk mines a black SR5 with crome trim bumpers an door handles it has all the avaliable features earlier mentioned 4speed auto with O/D, tachometer, auto hubs, ect one of the guys i ride with has the exact same truck but his is a fully loaded limited an the only difference i can tell is he has leather seats and sunroof. I think that the SR5's have different differentials than base models as well. My grandfather has a base model 4wd truck of the same year as my rig an he has open carrier differentials and mine had limited slip orignally

I have a 85 4runner sr5 , no sunroof ,weird I dont think many didnt have sunroofs , power windows, chrome grill , chrome door handles, no power door locks, inclometer, manual hubs, 5 speed , tachometer, sr5 badge on tailgate , air conditioning, cruise control , toyota fm/am cassette stereo , factory chrome steel wheels, unfortunately the PO re upholstered the seats a tan cloth , so I dont know what seats were really in there , hopefully they weren't the sr5 logo seats , that would be a crime
