Oil sending unit?

Oil sending unit?
Replaced my gauge pod in my "85" 4Runner which came with the oil sending unit but the gauge doesn't show a reading. How can I ckeck to see if the sending unit is good and make sure wire from unit is good?

Guage needs a different sender then the idiot light . Guage is a "bell" type sender .
pretty sure your wiring is there , If not, it is a simple single wire , but you will need to add the sender
