Ahh... it looks like your brake line's made out of rubber, not steel.

That's true, but not what's "wrong".

We have winner!!! Good thing I had not installed the rear ones yet - had a couple of spares! Time to get beefier parts....

I had posted previously about these parts continuing to loosening up on me. The hole in the swaybar is a good deal (5/16" vs. 1/2" or so) larger than the heim thread and it relies on a star washer, hardened washer and a nyloc nut to hold it in place. With the torque put on the ends from the mass of the 4Runner, I think there needs to be some more "beef" there or at a minimum, a bushing to bring it up to the right size.

This was fun to change in the snow...

Thank you, thank you! I have a speech around here somewhere but I can't seem to find it, so here goes. First off, I'd like to thank myself. I couldn't have done it without myself. Second, I'd like to thank.... well, actually I don't have anybody else to thank but myself. Goodnight everybody!! You've been great!!

HO-kay!!! Now where's my prize?!?!?!?!?

Ok, for real. Was it that bad driving around with it "disconnected"?

I don't know, since I only had to go about 3 blocks to get back home.

Here's a shot of the vicitim:

Steve, it is 5/16". I'll bet 7/16" won't break. How much slop is there between the 7/16 and the swaybar hole? Could 1/2" fit?

I don't know Cebby, it's been a year since I've looked at my sway bar hole. I *think* I used the old sway bar link as a guide when I selected the sizing. That is, I wanted to make sure the old washers and bushing fit, thus 7/16. If you go with a bigger rod end, remember the link will have to be enlarged too, since the ball hole will be bigger.

I didn't make them - they are from Lee. I inquired about the size of the rod end. He said only one other person had broken one. I bought them for the rear also, but I think I'll see if he'll take those back as I plan to upgrade all the parts to beefier goods.

Ever since I put the new end on I'm getting some weird noises from the swaybar now.
