Thermostat swap on 3.4L 2wd Tundra HELP!!!

Went to swap thermostat on a wifes friends 03 Tundra 2wd 3.4L V6. I thought the thermostat was on the top of the engine but found out its not. Then she got the book and I found that its on the lower part of the engine. Anyone done this? Trying to help wifes friend save money. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Yes, it's pretty easy. Drain the coolant, remove the three nuts on the housing, remove thermostat. Replace with spring towards the engine, and the little jiggle valve pointing up. Reverse order of disassembly.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this is on the lower radiator hose. You seem to be describing the upper hose.

factory spec for the thermostat is jiggle valve at 6 o'clock. And yes you will need to unbolt the aluminum pipe that the lower hose goes to. 12mm socket and socket wrench will do it.
