94 runner didn't pass emissions need help

ok I'm new toy owner and my 94 didn't pass the ontario Canada e test.

here is the results
the driving test :
Hydro carbons limit is 52 my toy is 314
the CO limit is .29 my toy is .51
idle test results
Hydro carbons limit 200 my toy 1145

the tesst guy said the runner was missing . I'm a new owner and not really familure with toyota.

I bought the runner knowing it had few issues the intake boot was ripped so I replaced it with a so called performance k&n set up
I also replaced the plugs and wires.

I have a new cap and rotor ariving today to put on it

the burn on the plugs make it look like everything is the same across all 6. but upon runing it and removing wires from the cap it is looking like #3 did not make any difference on how it ran.

I checked all the plugs with ohm meter
when I found the possible issue on #3 I tried replacing the wire with an old one to see if that was it with out luck

well some time after 8:00 I will be able to get the cap and rotor so I will try that

any ideas would be great

First we need know what motor is in it. Put that info in your signature for the future. Second what brand plugs and wires? Lets start there and then go forward. Welcome to YT. P.S>Yes dirty or corroded grounds can cause problems.

Have you checked timing yet? If not, I would start there, then check the o2 sensor.

I typically just buy a new one and try it. If it doesn't make a difference, then I put the old one back in and hang on to the new one until I need it. Gonna need it eventually anyway. I may have some backwards logic though, so you may be better off following the link above.

OOOhhhh... sorry man, it happens.

Go to partsgeek or www.sparkplugs.com and grab one for 1/4th the cost and call it a day...

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...en_sensor.html

http://sparkplugs.com/results_app.asp >>>> Part # 234-4052 or 234-4050 for the universal for 55$

Looks like prices are comparable; Have to double check the id # and shipping to be sure though. Still, it's what, 225$ at the Dealer? 55$ plus shipping seems a lil lower! lol.

PS> The numbers I put in were for CA emissions.... Figured Canada was a lil strict like CA, but not sure, so you'd have to fish around from there.(Hope they even ship there, right? I've heard you guys having issues with that/getting parts sent to Canada???? )

Your mileage will SUCKEJIUWAIAH! lol. No, really, it will never STAY IN closed loop(not sure it will even GO INTO it).... so that means, "MORE FUEL" right? Shouldn't effect it as in "sputtering, etc."... In fact, it might fool you into thinking 'WOW, IT'S MUCH BETTER', just like when one pulls the TPS connector to see if it idles up.

Skinny,

Can't get www.sparkplugs.com to ship one to ya at a reasonable enough price? Cuz I would stick with Denso, IMHO it's just not worth a few bucks savings if you can help it, ya know? Maybe Denso could tell you the 'specs' and then you can find out from one of their aftermarket sales co's which one would be, well, IDENTICAL? I would guess CA models would be similar... But I've heard Canada in some places isn't as strict as CA with emissions? No clue on that, but they MADE them for CANADA, .... there has to be an outlet somewhere, right????? lol. Your local parts store can get em, I bet... but they probably want like 180-200$?
