Code 25 & 26

Hey I keep getting code 25 and 26 and have reseted the computer but still they keep coming up. The lady at the Toyota store said to clean my AFM and throttle body with some cleaner and still no luck. I have also looked on the site for more info on how to tackle this problem and all I was able to get is to put some EFI cleaner in the tank and hope for the best.

Anyway if anyone has come across this before and knows what I should replace to solve this issue that would be awesome.

Code 25 is a lean condition while 26 is rich. I've never seen someone have both of those at the same time. How did you clean your AFM? Did you follow the procedure for testing the AFM?: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/AFM/index.shtml i'd want to rule that out first

I wold test your 02 sensor. Usually you get one code or the other , not both.
25 lean air fuel ratio. 26 rich air fuel ratio.

Yep, good idea. And don't forget to replace the gasket for it when you do. Very important. In fact a leaking O2 sensor gasket can cause either or both of those codes too, even with a perfectly functioning sensor. Ask me how I know.

And the advice to clean the AFM with any type of cleaner was DEAD WRONG. Don't EVER do that again. If you didn't ruin it, you got lucky. MAF sensor cleaner is for non-Karman Vortex MAF sensors ONLY. NOT AFMs, PERIOD.

HAHA! I have a code 25 and 26 myself. Last weekend I reset my ignition timing, adjusted my idle down to 750, new plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter, cleaned my K&N, reset the EFI and my CEL stayed off until this afternoon. I have a new O2 sensor I need to install but the bolts that hold the old one on are more like little rust balls. So when the snow melts I'll do the O2 sensor and MAFS adjustment. I'll let you know how it goes.

Also try running through the tank a bottle of an injector cleaner that has polyether amine in it (I keep repeating myself) - the only effective in the tank injector cleaner. Only 2 prods that still have it are Red Line SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner (most PEA) or CRC's "Guaranteed to Pass Emissions Test Formula" (less PEA than SI-1 but still a useful amount). Usually, some injectors clog more than others, making some cyls run lean while others are rich.

A direct-fit Denso O2 sensor will give best results. Cheapest on Amazon.

My bolts we rust balls as well. I ended up cutting it off with a grinder and tapping new holes for larger bolts, worked well but was a PITA
