Rear Prop Shaft Oil Seal (Remove T-Case housing???)
Hello,
This little project is giving me a headache!
Does anyone know if in order to replace the seal on the T-Case (the one behind the companion flange for the rear prop shaft) I need to REMOVE the Extension Housing of the Transfer case? This would include the Speedo Cable Sensor/Gear and such.
My real question is, besides having to buy a gasket for this, will any transfer case parts leap out at me when I pull this case section? If so, is there a better way to pull the seal without removing the section of the case?
I can't think of a way to pull this seal while the Splines of the rear output shaft block my access... and I'm at an impasse! Does anyone have insight?!
Pictures bellow:

(all T-Case housing bolts except 2 taken out of Extension housing, Speedo Gear loosely fitted)

(Whole rear t-case, for perspective)

(Close up on problem seal)
Any help is SO appreciated, especially since rain is coming tomorrow!

Nope, no need to remove anything but the seal, then you need a big socket or pipe to drive the new seal in.
They make a seal puller that will do it, might be able to get it out with a screwdriver.
