smoke coming from behind crank pully

engine is running well, i have good oil pressure and there is not a noticable leak comming from the front seal.

But when i start it up and rev it, smoke will pour out from behind the crank pulley.

Not sure what the hell is going on.

any ideas?

ill try to get a vid

well i took a vid but now its not happening

right before i had taken the bolt out of the main pully cause i thought i had to to add the power steering pulley, turns out you dont *im an idiot* i bolted it back up, torqued it.

any ideas?

i guess ill just leave it and keep an eye on the pressure and oil level and see if i can capture it happening again.

got new napa front main seal, the skinny one with the two lips. Also replaced oil pump oring.

sharpied the pulley crank put it in and twisted it, not riding in the groove.

start it up, not seeing any oil, take around block pull into garage stand over by passenger fender with flashlight and rev engine and receive oil facial.

Not sure what to try next, guess ill give a sleeve a try.

anyone have any other ideas? i appreciate any input

put sleeve from napa on, it is deffinatly leaking less now, not sure if its 100% though as there are still specs of oil flying, could just be residual from the dumping it was doing before.

*fingers crossed*

are you supposed to put any fipg on any of the oil pump bolts, i could of sworn you are supposed to but could not find anything.

de greased everything washed it out ran the engine.

Still leaking but now its down to a few specs from a steady stream.

got under neath while it was running and there were bubbles comming out from where the oil pump meets the timing cover.

Gonna order a new pump tomorrow.

My theory on gaskets is to never reuse them. When you replace the pump, put a new o-ring on, and add a film of sealant to it to be safe...Also helps hold the o-ring in place. Put a dab of sealer on the bolts. And to be safe, put in a new oem front main seal.
