I've been a member on here for a little bit and a TON of knowledge I picked up was from this site. My original plans were a SAS but it all changed (for the better I think) now Im building a truck for trail running and long travel trips! That being said here my ole Toyota pickup I've had since I was 14 has been making the slow transformation into a more capable trail/exploring rig... heres a few quick pics of how far its come since 05ish!

All the money I wasted trying to pretty it up... I loved the toyos tho, in the 315/75r16 flavor


Once I joined the Air Force and was shipped off to Alaska I started getting heavy into trail riding. So I invested in an ARB locker in the rear and 37x14.00r16 irok bias plys to start off

then i got tired of the 3.slow so I dropped in a 3.4 out of a t-100 I picked up for $300... best mod EVER!

I got a killer deal on these 38.5 boggers on 16x10 forged grizzly wheels

ifs actually held up for last summer trail running (mindful throttle)





Dont bash for running huge tires on ifs... I planned on a sas but I ended up changing the way i wanted to go completely since I'll be traveling alot in the military. so I called up Nate at Blazeland and he hooked me up!


Picked the bfg and eagle alloys up for a song! Just rollers for now.


I decided to keep the bracket lift on with Blazelands long travel kit last minute mostly for experimentation.


The rear is still on blocks but it'll be fixed soon!

Got the topper for free so I figured I'd play with that idea too.
Please keep in mind this truck is all in test phase... so far Im happy with the way its going minus the rear. I'm open for ideas for the rear suspension just keep in mind the trend for my truck... CHEAP! Ballin on a budget haha

I pulled the trigger on some q78s earlier this week. Should be here tomorrow or tuesday, will post pics when I get em!

Thanks LG, I'm a believer in blazeland long travel especially if your on a tight budget like i am.

I still dont know what I want to do with the rear suspension... I would love to throw a 3 or 4- link under it but that will take quite a bit more saving.

I did grab some fiberglass on the cheap in need of a little TLC

 

Well one q78 came UPS today. Still waiting on the other 3 that are coming FedEx, guess we know which one is faster!

Well I finally got my q78-16lt on all four corners thanks to few of my buddies while I was at work but I was able to play with them a little in my driveway on my mound of ice and snow haha here a few pics

Where'd you get that pro comp steering damper? Is it stock replacement or does it have to bolt around the relay rod?
Also loving the blazeland with the bracket lift. sweet stance!

 

Thanks man I'm pretty happy with the stance of it too. The pro comp is a stock replacement. It bolts right into the stock locations, but mine actually needs to be replaced or down sized because it rubs my 3.4 oil pan a little.

 

I decided to go with 63 chevy springs for the rear, mostly for simplicity and all the good things I have heard about them. Oh yeah price helps alot too! I ordered ruffstuff specialties chevy swap kit and 7" shackles (just in case) along with his monster lower shock mounts (I couldnt resist haha). I'll use the TG ubolt flip kit as well. I'm planning on using 14" resi F.O.A shocks with this setup... Let me know what you guys think!

 

Nice build up thread. How many sets of tires do you have for that thing? Its like Mad Max and the road warrior to find tires like that with 10% of tread left on them here in AZ. Why did stick with IFS? All the money that was spent you could have had a full setup of Trail-gear SAS kit with chromoly axels gears, locker, and high steer. Im not doggin on your rig it awseome just curious.

Haha yeah all my buddies say I change tires like I change clothes. I only have the Q78s right now, (gotta sell a set to get a set). I don't think your doggin man I actually had a TG sas kit sitting in my garage but a financial crisis required me to sell it then I talked myself out of it simply because I wanted to experiment to see just how capable I could build an ifs rig and compare mine with all my Trail Gear suspension set up rigs my buddies have. So yeah I coulda done a sas, alot of people will say I shoulda done it but I decided to keep ifs and dare to be different. So far I'm glad I did. The ride is AMAZING compared to all the solid axle rigs I've driven. Besides, if I get tired of the ifs i can just take it off sas it and bolt the kit on my other rig!

 

what were the specs on your truck when you had the 38.5 boggers on? what a mean lookin truck you have by the way!

 

superlift 4" bracket lift stacked on a 3" bodylift
the boggers were 38.5 15r16 on 16x10 wheels (dont remeber backspace)
it turned with out rubbing long as you arent flexing too much but rear flex ate the fenders up pretty good. those tires also destroy idler arms as many of the guys on here could tell you already!

 

Had to use my bumper as a snow plow yesterday... just to give you an idea how high the snow is around here haha
