Interior LEDS installed (pix included)

A friend with a Tacoma just did this mod and once I saw the results in person, I was sold.
I installed 4 Superbright cool white LEDS in the dome & map lights in my 1998 4Runner. The difference is literally night and day!! The install took all of 10 minutes. The bezel around the map lights just pops off so that was easier than it looked.

Here's what I bought:

3022-xHP4: 4 High Power LED Festoon Bulb | $ 6.95 |
3022-CWHP4: Cool White

Of course, here's the pix

I need to put this on the "must-do" mod list.

I installed two 12 inch led strips on the ceiling in my first gen. wired them in to the normal dome light. the difference really is night and day. lights up the ENTIRE truck inside. i wanna put 2 more in the cargo area just for extra light when camping or loading sutff at night wired into its own switch instead of like the deck lamp where the lights have to be on. ill post some pic in a few

Nice ! This is on my to-do list of things for my '99. Did you also replace the cargo, ash tray, glove box and vanity lights ?

I saw a thread where the guy replaced all his interior lights with LEDs and took photos of the whole thing. Only thing I want to do different is to use colored LEDs, green to match the dash lights and my Pioneer deck.

oh yeah, can't get enough, so many good LED's out there now; and on top of that, they draw a mere fraction of the current, you can leave them on overnight and still come out and start up and go! ha!

I'm addicted, I don't even want to count up how much i've spent on these little gems... All I have left to completely be rid of halogens are my instrument stuff and turn signals, I have the LEDs just too lazy to pull the dash apart...

long live LED's....

I've had issues with my LED dash lights, sometimes they will just flicker off... I've become super efficient at taking out my dash, can swap the bulbs in under 5 minutes now lol.
I had to use 1 led on the left, 1 stock without the green condom on, and 1 led on the right and it seems to have stopped the problem.. not sure why.

but this is what it used to look like, now the middle is just white but the redline RED shows since its white lighting.
I've also swapped the cigarette light with a blue led, the key ignition ring is bright terminator eye red, the climate control is half white and half blue. the ash tray is white

day shot

I did my dome lights last weekend in white and waited till dark to get the true effect. Turned on the dome lights and whooooa I thought I was in a disco they kept changing colors. Looked around and made sure no one saw it. Yanked those puppies as fast as I could and took them back, mis packaged had to order the white ones.

here is my rendition of upgrading my dome light, I know its not the same gen but still.

used super glue to attach them to the headliner because the 3m adhesive on them sucked. all i did was strip the wires and wrap them around the metal prongs that hold the old bulb. no issues at all with that, still holding tight after about 2 weeks. picture doesnt do the brightness justice. it really lights up even the whole cargo area. the strips came in a set of 2 for 20 bucks at the local auto zone. they had all sorts of colors.

I replaced all the bulbs in my 99 Tacoma with LEDs in the cab. Cost me about $13 but it made a HUGE difference in light output. I got part numbers and such on the build thread for it.

Just installed the 3022-xHP4's in my dome and deck fixtures, too. Significantly brighter than stock incandescent. Next will be to mount independently-switched LED arrays on the roll-bar (first-gen) to light the rear deck.
