4cyl. t-caso Q's

i have a few Q's abot switching from a chan drive (6cyl.) to a gear drive (4cyl.) on an R150F tranny. if i used marlins adapter plate to mate the 4cyl. gear driven t-case to my R150F tranny would i have to shorten/lengthen my driveshafts? also does the 4cyl. gear driven t-case shifter come up in thesame spot as the 6cyl. chain driven t-case spot? and can i use my existing rubber and leather boot with this t-case, or do i need to custom make one?
Thanks!

The driveshafts should be about the same as should the shifter location. You do need to convert the 4-cylinder case to a 23-spline turbo input shaft in order to mate up with your V6 tranny. Marlin has the necessary part for this as well.

T-case shifter location will depend on if you use a forward or a top-shifting 4cyl case.

The VF1A chain drive transfercase is a top shift unit , and your only option would be to use a top shift (early efi w56 or 86-87 turbo efi) style tcase there is no other option with your set up ie forward shifting is not even close to being possible with your transmission(R150). Plus like was said earlier you need to convert to a 23 spline turbo input gear or if you are really lucky you might find a turbo case.

Heres what I think you are looking at- $349 for the adapter kit , and probably close to $200 for the turbo input gear.

Now since you have to buy that gear , and you will want low gears anyways WHY not buy the 23 spline 4.7 total spline gear set? This makes alot more sence to me. this would bring you to
$349+449 for an extra 250 or so your getting what you really need.
hope this helps,
Richard

If you get a turbo case then you'd have to convert it to top-shift. Either way, you're gonna be tearing into a t-case for the swap.

Afraid not. Two of them are currently in use and the third is my spare. I will admit though, two of them are converted turbo trannies, I only found one of them.

HA I was thinking wow your the man till I read "two are converted"

I have my stash of tcases aswell however none are the elusive 23 spline! I am actually more worried about busting a outpt shaft than the input so at some point it'll be all about a cromo output. Maybe even Marlins new secret crazy output (that things huge!)

I've got the All-Pro output but I'm hoping Marlin offers the Tundra output as a one-piece upgrade rather than just as the FWD version. I don't need FWD and I certainly don't need to pay that much anyway. Now if he were to offer a setup with just the larger output shaft, I'd be interested.

$80 for the rear or only case. $60 if it is for a front case of a dual case setup:

Probably be easier (and maybe cheaper) to swap the 23-spline input to a RF1A top-shift case. The input runs $180, but the case is likely to be a bit cheaper, assuming you can even find a turbo case.

I don't think the top-shift components from a chain-driven case will work. I'm pretty sure that it needs to be from a gear-driven case.

If you want, shoot me a VIN and I can look it up and what your parts look like compared to those of a gear-drive case.

I got to see the shaft and gears outside the case, from what I saw it can't be use with existing set-up. It's purely designed to work with his new FWD gearset. From what I saw, it's gonna make quite a strong box.

so how much does a 4cyl. top shift case useually go for versus a turbo case? then also what i would need to make the turbo case work with my R150F would be:
Adapter
top shift conversion kit

and to make a 4cyl. top shift case work with my tranny i would need:
adapter
23 spline input gear

is that right? also how hard is it to replace the input gear?
Thanks
