I just got this toyota multiple problems. First vacuum hoses were all scattered. Put them back where I thought they need to be. Spark plug wires were not where they needed to be put them back. Replace the timing chains noticed that the cam was 180 degrees off fix that. But I am still at square one, when I go to start it, it will start but when I let off on the key is dies.

 

Maybe do a little searching around the site first.

I'm just gonna guess you have a 4runner 84 or 85? Depending on which year you'll have a 22r or a 22re.

So you can start it, then when you release they key from the "start position" into the "on" position, the engine dies?

Does your ignitor get power in the on position?
