1989 3.0 Thorley header ?

I got the headers on but for sme reason I can`t get the reed valve to tighten in the passenger header. It says to use the crush fitting. My question is,Is that the brass fitting that is in the bag with the copper pipe used to go in the reed valve? And do I use it and the other ring thing that is already under the nut on the headers or what? Thanks for any help.I searched but I can`t find anybody else that has had this problem.

Thank you.I got it in and actually fired the truck up for the first time with the new motor. Now I guess I am going to have to put a slave cylinder on.The new clutch is not working.Oh well getting closer.
