Bone stock, 3.0, Auto, SR5, 4WD

My Mom owned it since 2002. She lives in Wyoming while I live in Cali, I knew she owned a 4runner but had no clue it was a 2door till earlier this year.

She spoke of selling her 4runner due to lack of use and it was just a curbside ornament. The more I heard about it then more attractive it sounded. So I asked her to send me some photos of it and as soon as I saw them I was hooked. It was nicer than my ol 88 in almost every way!

I offered to buy it from her and she laughed saying you fly up here and spend some time out here and it was simply mine to drive back!

 

So after changing the oil, ATF, coolant, rear diff fluid, filling it up and pouring in some SeaFoam. Myself and two buddies of mine drove it 1100 miles back to Cali in about 16 hours straight.

17-19 Mpg and not a single issue. Truck sat for almost 2years with an occasional start up to make sure the battery wasnt dead.

Of course it wasnt long till I had to take it on a Fire road nearby my home

 

SMOG TIME! (I was dreading it with good ol CALI standards.....

However!!!!!

You passed with flying colors... lol you weren't even an average polluter. my NO was measured very high on my truck. if they keep raising it, i dont think it'll pass.

I know I was shocked. Your motor itself is stock no? I know about the exhaust but everything else is pretty much oem correct?

 

Oh and btw Mak, your runner is a true inspiration man. Its legit!

I wish I could do the jamboree =( I just know I got too much on my plate right now to try and go this time round. Soon tho! I havent been to pismo since I was a kid lol.

And now the bitter with the sweet.

S0 after the man hours installing the lift I was lazy and decided I didnt want to wash the truck by hand. Gonna take the easy route and go through a drivethrough car wash!

Well, didnt go as planned. Seems that rust from living in the snow for at least the last 15 years up and rear its ugly head.....

Guess the brush whips snagged on the trim which wasnt truly attached to the truck due to the rust.....

The under carriage itself aint bad. Some bolts are a true pita to loosen but no real issue. Just 4 spots in total with the cancer. I'll address it when I do some research. Until then I just quick fixed the trim issue so I could finally post some full pictures of the lift installed.

Definitely the cleanest 2 door I've ever seen, it's nice to see one not all beat up like everybody seems to do to theirs these days. Too bad you cant make pismo, it would be a real treat to see. Keep up the good work.

 

Thank you. I appreciate it. I'll Have to take some pictures but the interior is pretty mint. Like incredible considering the age. There is like 3 dash cracks and just a little drivers seat wear.

 

So since I bought the truck the rear Tire swing has been driving me crazy, it rattles like the cans on the back of a newlyweds ride.... SOOOOOOOO I found a cheap easy way to get rid of the slop in both the carrier and thus said rattle!!!!

All in all spent about 7 bucks and it took ALL noise away from the tire carrier. It closes with a solid thud.

The reason for the washers is that it had forward backward play and not up and down play, meaning the hinges werent having the issue but the bumpstops and latch were. You can go to this thread to see me cry about it. lol

Busy weekend for me. Got the Alignment done finally! My a family member of mine is a pretty incredible tech and he got me set up nice at his work. The truck rides even better now. Considering i had a 3 degree toe.....

Also, I got some more goodies!!!!



My current headlights are totally sketch. Also I have a bumpstop issue. if youll look below.



See that slight scratch on the shock? Ya the lip on the stock bumpstop rubs at compression...... But the weird thing is that it doesnt do that on the passenger side.



My new poly bushings. All the front bumpstops plus the rear sway bar kit. These are low pro stops but not the ultra low pro.

Bumpstops were also installed but I ran into a rusty broken bolt issue with the rear swaybar. HOPEFULLY fixed tomorrow.

 

how did you get the lift out of the front? tweek the torsion bars?

 

I put ball joint spacers up front, there is a pic of the passenger side front end, the one with the bad drop light glare, the ball join spacer is being installed in that one.
