my brake lights dont work.

i bought simple utility trailer lights stop/turn/tail combos. wired up the turn signals and the tail lights, they work fine. i have 13.7v at the wires for the stop circuit, brake switch works fine. not sure wut to do at this point. the light only has 3 wires ground/tail/stop&turn are labeled as 1 wire. its weird my meter will read 12v on the wire but if i try to get it to light up anything it wont. there are 5 wires on the truck 3green 1red 1white. i hate being a douche' someone help the noob......

To go to a four wire trailer plug you need an adapter. Literally a kit with a box and a trailer plug on the end. There is plug and play version that plugs in the tail light plugs.. Also a more generic version where you hack into wires with those crappy blue connectors.

So you are trying to wire up trailer lights as your brake/tail lights on your truck? Is that what is going on? How many bulbs are involved? Sure the bulbs are not blown?

Yes.

Reason you need the trailer plug convertor is to separate out and re-combine the Toyota wire signals for the trailer lights you are using.

the guy i got my truck did the same thing on his flatbed. he wired in 2 red stop/tail/turn lights, and 2 reverse lights and he really screwed it up. theres about 1,0000 splices and wires all hacked together. im actually in the process of re-wiring also, so ill look into the trailer adapter. that actually makes perfect semse.

thanks alot guys!!

Hopkins is a decent brand of trailer converter adapter and free shipping over on Amazon.

But I would not mind seeing that light bar either.
