James Woods' 88 Bucket Build
So I finally decided to make a build thread, it is probably going to go pretty slow as family and school takes up most of my money and time.
That being said, let's get to it, so about a year ago I traded a 1990 Legacy straight across for this pickup, when I got it, it was completely stock with 3 different tires on it.
1988 standard cab short bed
Stock 22RE
5-speed
32'' all terrain tires
I first put a set of lights on the bumper that I had sitting around, since the bumper is a little bent, the lights would not aim without removing the grill so that came off. This is how it looks now

For my birthday, I got a high lift and couldn't think of anywhere to mount it so temporarily I mounted it with some bolts to the back of the bed.

Then I found a cluster on craigslist with a tach for an automatic for $20

Still havent got the sender yet for the oil pressure.
Then from a member here, I finally fixed my heater control face that really bugged me from when I first got it, also upgraded to a clock.

So anyone who has read one of my other threads knows that a little while ago, I ripped out my radio because it was cutting out power to the speakers and the local alternative rock station was playing "pretty woman" right after that my favorite local radio station stopped broadcasting music and moved to news radio. So I installed an old Rockford Fosgate amp that I have had laying around for a few years, wired my speakers to it, went down to Radio Shack and got a 3.5 mm jack into two RCA cables and ran my amp from my phone. After a road trip to So Cal, my songs were getting old, so I looked into XM radio, I called to find out if it would work for me, they told me yes and they could sell it to me for 19.99 when Best Buy wanted 80. So an hour ago, I was greeted at the front door by a box with my radio in it. It is very nice, I just want to sit in the truck and listen to the radio, it is nice to turn on the radio and have so much variety and no commercials. Any way here are the pics
thats the radio, it needs some finishing but it works.

And the amp

One of the bulbs in the cluster burned out tonight so I gotta take the cluster back out again, also noticed every once in a while the brake indicator light doesn't work so I am going to replace that also and hope its just loosing contact every once in a while, maybe its time to upgrade to LED's.

Thanks, yeah I gotta get it in good shape before I can really start to modify things I think. The radio station isn't that big of a deal I guess because it introduced me to XM which is sooo much better than normal radio. Good luck on your engine search, and let me know if you ever want to come up and hit Brown's Camp.

A locker is a must for sure, I had one in my 4Runner and LOVED it. Mine was a detroit tru track, so more of a limited slip kinda thing but NEVER left me in a mud hole lol. I'm hoping to get one for my truck here in the very near future.
