pre 88 fuel sending unit

I have an 86/87 pickup.

My gas gauge almost always says empty unless I fill it. (then it says full for a day or two)

I am having trouble tracking down a fuel sending unit. (one without the fuel pump and just the float) I looked on napa vatozone and ebay.

www.toyotapartszone.com www.toyotapartseast.com or your local dealer. They are expensive and the right ones are not available from places like autozone napa etc etc. The only ones I think I hae seen on autozone were the later model ones with the low fuel level warning.

I started a thread a while back with part numbers and such, but if you go the junk yard route there is only a few that will work depending on ext cab, single cab, years, gas tank size and weather or not you have a gauge cluster that has a low fuel level warning.

oh and they are not single piece units, the fuel pump is completely separate which is evident when you look at the tank, there is two holes in the top of the tank, the one towards the rear is the actual level sensor/sender. The one in the front is for the fuel pump/fuel pickup only.
