Have a 95 runner , harness is damaged under the hood from a small fire. , need to run the fuel pump to empty the tank.

I tried the one on the diagnostic connector on the fusebox under the hood, no workee.

Any easy way to put power on the wire that goes to the pump?
Any easy way to access that wire?

Getting a mechanical pumped diesel conversion.

 

Run 12V straight from the battery and run the ground through the battery too.

 

Tried that to the blue wire on the diagnosic plug, didnt work,

Is there another place I can grab the fuel pump wire?
Or is there a relay between the engine compartment and the pump?

 

why go through all that trouble to empty the tank, when you can take the tank skid plate off and use the gas tank drain plug?

 

I agree with the above.

You said you had a fire in the engine bay. So screw trying to get crap off of the diagnostic box. If I were you and the FP + B jumper did not work to prime the fuel pump I would have followed my original advice. Run some wire down the frame to the fuel pump.

 

oh yeah running the fuel pump is't gonna get all the fuel out either. Not sure why you want the fuel out though. So it doesn't gum up the tank? If so drain it using the drain plug.

Transplanting in a 1kzt turbodiesel & 5 speed.

Need to drop the tank & remove or bypass the pump , as the 1kzt doesnt need it. Be cool to bypass the pump and use a checkvalve so I could switch on the electric pump to prime the diesel injection pump

if your switching over to diesel then I would definitely just use the drain plug, I am fairly certain all the the toyotas had them. But I believe you will have to take the skid off. Not sure where exactly they are located though.

 

If I ever have to drain or take down my tank, if possible I am gonna drill a hole in that skid plate so I won't have to take it off to drain the tank again.

My old 91 had a gas tank drain plug but my 99 Tacoma does not have a gas tank drain plug.

 

Looked closer, mine has a hole in the skid plate for the drain plug.

Stripped the heads off the 2 bolts holding the skidplate to the tank on the rear mount. Grrrr.

 

that's repairable, but try doing that with the bed mount bolts. Another one of the pros to dropping the tank instead of lifting the bed.

 

yea but then anyone can come up and pull your drain plug and steal your gas or at very least leave you stranded and without fuel

 

noone around here is that smart. It's PA afterall.

 

to answer your first question on other searching later, if you find the relay high up in the passenger kick panel, unplug it and then apply 12+ to the blue wire that will kick on the fuel pump.
