odd whining noise

Question odd whining noise

my 4runner is a 5 speed and when im driving the higher the rpm i go it whine's louder and i have no idea what it is. it sounds almost like a super charger whine. if anybody could help me try to figure out what it would be that be great.

no but im perrty certain its the engine and its 10 degrees out so im not going to look right now ethier lol

from the dip stick in the engine bay. there will be 2 of them in there one oil and one tranny if its auto, manual tranny u need to pull a plug on the side of the motor.

now for the whining it could be a belt, or pulley bearing, also a vacuum leak, and then it could be a bad bearing or cam in the motor, so kind of need more info. is it from the front of the motor, have u tried to look under the hood and just giving it gas to produce the whining? let us know,

Do you have an aftermarket audio deck, speakers, subwoofer, amp? I have a whine that goes up with RPM based on interference with the amps. Just another possibility.

i found out it was my alternator, are there any alternators i could mount that would be better that i dont need a differnt bracket for?

My whine only happens when the truck is in gear. If I go into neutral, it goes away.

i have the same issue...i kind of like it though. gives it a cool supercharger sound effect.

usually if you get a whine noise from your stereo its cause u have a bad ground or running your power wire and your RCA's next to each other
