New yota owner

just joined up and bought my first toyota just thought i would introduce myself sure ill be on here a lot im on ls1tech all the time. Picked up a 94 sr5 pickup, auto, 4x4, power windows locks and mirrors, sun roof, cruise, cd. The beds rusty, and it has one unpainted fender, but it only has 125000 miles and i got it for 1500 runs perfect! the interior is extra clean. so far i like it a lot more than i did my duramax been cruisin in the snow all day gets around great. havent decided what im goin to do about the bed maybe just put a flatbed on it.

I think you got a good deal, I would be checkin peoples custom flatbeds to get some ideas.
You could slap a simple one on or get pretty creative.

Either the 2.4L 22re or the 3.0L 3vze. Most "SR5s" are going to be the 3vze.

first thing you'll wanna do is swap out that automatic tranny for a 5spd lmfao

it seems to rob what little power the 3vz has

Looks like you got a pretty good deal. The mileage on it is pretty amazing too. The ones I normally see for sale around my area are 225k+

So the best thing to improve the power of a 3vze is switch out the auto tranny for a manual and other than that there really isnt much a guy can do to make the 3vze go better. I am just curious even though I have grown very used to the 3.0 and seem to enjoy and appreciate the torque vs the speed (my wife and I wont get as many speeding tickets)

spot on man! That was the first thing i noticed its slowwww...especially compared to my duramax turbo diesel, but once i got used to it i really prefer the automatic for just cruisin around in the country.

If the bed is salvageable, I'd do my damnedest to keep it. I have owned four 86 flatbeds and no matter how nice they were/are I'd rather have a stock bed.

i was coyote and bobcat hunting lol gun fits perfectly right there!.....i really dont think my beds salvagable but i did find a parts truck near by for 300 that has a decent black bed so i might go that route. The flat bed i have for it is on an 86 that rusted in half i bought but i think a stock bed would look better than that one.
