I'm in the early stages of a DD build project on an '84 longbed I recently picked up, and the BFG 33's that came with the truck have lots of tread left, but are showing a bit of dryrot cracking in the sidewall. They are fine for now, but replacement is on the radar. The tires are currently mounted on the typical AR 15x8 rock crawlers, but I've been thinking about possibly "upgrading" to new OE toyota wheels to freshen it up a bit. I'm planning on running 32's with a new OME lift so I'm looking for Tundra, Landcruiser, Sequoia, etc. for the extra width.

My question is, with new trucks having auto hubs, will new model wheels fit over the manual locking hubs on older trucks? If so, is it as simple as running the fronts with the center caps removed?

I don't know if they'll fit or not but i know thr backspacing is different, you might have to run some big a$$ spacers up front but not positive

 

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't think about the BS, I just assumed they were the same. I'll look into that.

Does anyone happen to know if any newer model Toyota rims match the BS of 1st gen SFA?

IFS rims will NOT fit SFA without wheel spacers.

This is a project truck, so no need to cut corners w/ spacers. I'm looking to make this long(ish) distance highway friendly so I'm probably going to step down a tire size to 32's anyway - might as well replace the whole package.

What is the generally approved backspacing for a solid axle w/ 32's-33's? Searching is turning up 3.75. The truck has bushwacker cut-outs that I'll probably leave on there, so a slightly wider stance wouldn't hurt. I'm also planning on stepping up to FJ80 rotors w/ V6 calipers if that makes a difference.

Also your truck is not a first gen, those are 79-83. Your truck is a considered a 2nd gen 84-88, just that 2nd gen 84 & 85's had the SFA
