Would someone be so kind as to look at this picture and tell me where this line is supposed to connect to? 86 22RE motor

If your 86 is like mine, you can search for vacuum diagrams on here or on google. Mine doesn't look anything like the 86re it is more like the 88re.

 

Thanks for the help, but I have tried that. There's even a diagram under the hood, but it doesnt have this line in it.

Its the line my finger is on. Right now I just have it plugged off.

 

Looks like the line that goes to the the vsv or one of the valves thats supposed to be on top of the valve cover.


If i can get my pics to load i have some that show where the lines run to and from.

 

on mine, (89) one goes down to plethora of hard lines along side of head, and the one your finger is on connects to the blue VSV, left center of valve cover.

You can see in this photo there are 2 lines that arent hooked to anything that have a screw in them blocking them off.

Im not sure how important these lines are. Truck runs fine but it does sound like I can hear a vacuum leak somewhere, and I just want everything the way its supposed to be. You know how we are about our trucks?LOL

Your missing the rear VSV. Its only present on 4WD 22RE's to aid in cold starts. Thats where that line is supposed to go, it sits on the back right side of the valve cover.

Awesome! Thank you so much! Now I need to find out if it is an aftermarket part. I noticed today the front VSV has a broken nozzle on one of the vaccum line connections, so its not connected either. I tried to glue it back but couldnt. I will need that part too.

My understanding is that VSV is more of a hot start aid, keeps the fuel pressure high in hot conditions to prevent a sort of vapor lock. I've had mine bypassed for 6+ years now and no hot (or cold) starting issues.

And that 3-port vacuum fitting at the back of the intake usually feed the FPR with one port, the factory cruise control (if installed) from the 2nd port and normally the 3rd port is capped. I used that for a vacuum gauge on the dash.

 

Funny thing is that VSV is only present on 4WD/22REs. Why would the same fuel pressure issue not happen on other vehicles with 22REs.

 

It looks like the rear vacuum line should go to the fuel presure regulator.
