when are there too many weights for tire balance?
I just looked at my tires. They are new-ish so i was just seeing the wear ect. and i noticed a stack of weights inside my wheel. There were 37 1/4oz weights stacked up in 3 rows two weights high. This just seems like an abnormal amount of weight. It turns out to be 9 1/4 oz total. They tires are 285-75r16 km2's. They are balanced, but i expect some to fall off

The bigger the tires, the more rubber, the greater the variance in balance. I can't see there being a problem. As long as the tires were properly balanced, that is just how much weight they needed.

If you have steel rims then your rim might be bent. Had that problem on my chevy. It was bent just enough where it did not ride bad, but wore my tires out almost like bad shocks will. When I put new tires on and went to balance it calles for 7 oz's of weight so I turned it again and noticed a wobble.

There is a liquid that truckers run in their tractor trailer tires that works really good. Had a set of 40 swampers on my F250 and someone recommended it, worked great. I used a bottle (a quart) in each tire with the best ride I ever got out of that truck. Downfall is, if I remember correctly, its about $25-$35 a bottle. But it lasted the whole time I had the truck.
