3.0 Low Idle When Stationary
I have just recently noticed at times when my truck is idlingmy RPMs will drop to about 500 and sometimes lower. If i give it a little bit of gas and let off it will do fine. it just started happening a few days ago. Today i replaced all of my vacuum lines because i had a few cracked ones, but it did it after that also. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening?

tps....the the throttle position sensor...the easy way to do it if you have a problem with this is to disconnected and run the engine... if the engine still doing whatever is doing then the tps is good and it is something else......P.S. please let us know what you drive, year, model and engine.....I am assuming you are driving the truck you have in your avatar.

sorry guys, its in my sig so i figured that was fine but its a 95 3.0 just did all the vac lines a couple days ago and i did the head gaskets a couple thousand miles ago. i have a K&N but that has been there for a good while before this started. And just today it would drop at start up to about 400 and surge between that and 500 and that happened about an hour or two after i drove about three miles. And when i drove it around the block a couple times it idled fine at about 750 or 800.

So, you disconnected and the idle went up. Did it even out? Have you driven around, yet, to see how it's affecting things?

Does anyone know what the little plate on the back of the throttle body is. its a bronze or brass color and has a tear drop shape on it. Well all of the screws holding it on were very loose and the thing could have fell completely off

Does it rotate on a pin in the center?

alright finally got this thing to cooperate. here is what im talking about. the rag is just because it was hot, and that is with the camera on the firewall facing the grill and the plate is on the back of the throttle body. the rag is on the surface where the throttle body connects to the plenum. http://s993.photobucket.com/albums/a...9.jpg&newest=1

didnt fix it but the motor doesnt do it as bad until it warms up a little bit. i have a small crack in my intake tube right at the throttle body but that has been there ever since i can remember and it has never had problem. could it be that my distributor needs to be advanced a little bit because if i recall the 3.0 is suppose to idle at 800 and now its at 700 or 750 could that cause a problem?

i didn't drive it but it idles smooth and no surges or anything at 1100 maby i could just leave it disconnected or buy a new one and adjust the timing. im thinking that may be my problem or how do you adjust them

did tightening it back up fix the problem?
