Engine 22re out of an 85.
Things I've tried so far:
Drain fuel tank, found little bit of water, not much
Changed both fuel filters
Fixed vac leaks I have found
External fuel pump and RCI Fuel cell, pump seems to be working good, never put a pressure gauge on it yet.

Runs good till temp comes up to normal, then as it gains rpm the engine bogs down while under load, I can mat the throttle and its like zero fuel is getting to the engine, as I let off on the pedal the engine comes to life with a jolt, ease the throttle down and the same thing, bogs down until I back off the throttle. Might be leaning towards the TPS but think I may need a mechanic to check that.

The weird thing is that back a few weeks after I bought it the same thing happened while driving down the high way, I stopped and it died. Took about 15 mins before it would fire up and she ran fine for a few months. It happened again, same thing it died, took a bit to fire up and good for another month or so. This time it didnt smarten up like it did in the past. This kind of crap I wish it was carbed, I little more non mechanic friendly.

Ideas, things to try??

 

Thought I would also add that all of the emissions crap has been blocked off and I noticed that I had raw fuel dripping out of the fresh air line coming off my evap canister. IF that matters. Thought maybe I had fuel come from my tank into the canister and then getting sucked into the intake. Blocked it off and that didnt cure my problem.

I have had symptoms similar to yours when the engine is warm. The causes have been caused by
1)Bad air flow meter. You can check with ohm meter.
2)The flapper door in the air flow meter was stuck open. It just needed cleaned
3)Cracks in the hose between the throttle body and the air flow meter. Duct tape temporarily and then replaced section of hose
You may also want to check the temp sensor.

Make sure your gas cap is vented, if its not then that could cause the problems your having.

myyota, my fuel cell is vented via a vent hose and filter, and its not plugged.

 

The part about excess fuel in your evap cannister.....Didn't pick this up in your post, so I'll ask the question. Do you have a fuel return line back to your fuel cell like a stock 22re? Or does your external fuel pump shut off once it is up to pressure?

 

Yup I got a return line. Fuel pump works off of my AFM, which looks to be my problem. I took the AFM apart, cleaned what I could, put i back on and the same problem. I got to messing with the valve inside while the truck was running and if I held it slightly open while slowly opening the throttle it would smarten right up. I worked it a few time and took her out. Ran alot better at lower rpms, but as soon as I would hit 3000rpm the same problem. before I could hardly get 2000rpms out of it. Im going to try spraying some cleaner in there in the next couple of days when I get time.

 

If cleaning it doesn't work, I pretty sure that I've still got an 85 AFM. I know that it was working when we dismantled the truck. If you need it let me know.
