help me understand

hey all,
i was "thinking" about putting some of the limited looking, fender flares on my SR5, one parts man told me i cant, they dont fit, ive seen 2000 SR5`s with them, body style is the same, i dont understand why they wont fit, i want to put the painted flares from a 2000 SR5 on my 99 SR5, will the mounting holes line up, or are they totaly different, thankx for any help...

They will fit, but take a lot of work, and it is an expensive project. Ron S's old 4Runner (which Gadget now owns) had this mod done to it - I would try searching on the forum about this topic, and possibly asking Gadget himself.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but don't limited flares require holes in the body? I don't think the SR5 flares are snapped through the fenders, but i may be wrong. This would make it one heck of a job, but possible nonetheless.

humm

i know that on mine, ( a 99 sr 5 ) it has the black flares, they just bolt on from under the fender, ive seen lots of 2000 SR5`s with the painted flares, but then again maybe i should just take them off for a different look, but thankx for the thoughts, etc.

I have the Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender flares, that look similar to the Limited style flares (check my sig line for pics) both the Bushwackers and the Toyota flares do require drilling through the body on the rear doors, but the Toyota Limited flares will fit on your Runner. That parts guy is a moron or either too lazy to find the part numbers. I would go with the Bushwackers like mine because they are a lot cheaper compared to the Toyota ones. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Ric,

Yes, they require drilling. And yes, it is a very expensive undertaking!

I would suggest you look at Bushwackers and Xenons too. I really like the Xenons.
