I have a 92 toy motorhome with a 3.slow that runs like a top but when I've driven it for any amount of time and then shut it down it will not restart. it turns over slow and acts like the battery is nearly dead. but after sitting for about twenty minutes it starts like a champ and runs great. I have checked the battery and it is good with a full charge and cleaned the post but no change. I am getting good charge out of the alternator. The truck is not running hot so I am kind of at a loss. My next thought is to change the starter out and see if that helps but I really hate to throw parts blindly at a problem. So any thoughts would be a great help.

I just fixed a VERY similiar problem on my 22re. Check your pickup coil in the distributor.

 

If the problem is turning over slow, there's no reason to suspect the fuel or ignition systems, is there? Should only be something in the starter circuit.

No trace of slow turn over after 20 minutes?

Try checking the voltage across the battery while you crank it when it's working properly. Then do it again while you crank it when it's acting sick. If the voltage is much lower, then I'd suspect the battery, otherwise it's cables, starter or solenoid switch.

I'd keep checking the battery cables, have AutoZone check my battery if you didn't already, they can check your starter too while it's still in the car.

 

I would say betelnut makes the most sense!!!!!!

 

It might be the starter is "heat soaked". I had one that acted up after a hwy run.

Try spraying cold water on it and see if that helps.
