Hey fella's, I noticed the other day that I've got a hose that looks like it's about to let loose; it's swelling, and starting to seep a little...

It's the fluid return hose coming from the pump and up to the reservoir; the big one that's like 1/2" in diameter.


Anyone ever been able to get one outside of the dealership?

I know the dealer's probably going to be the best one I can get, but geez, $40 for that little 1ft long hose with 2 curves in it? comon...

 

Local parts store. Take yours and match one.

 

Toyota of Dallas has it for $30.03 if you can't find it locally.

why not simply replace it with just any hose with the appropriate inner diameter? The funny bend in the middle of the stock hose certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker when it comes to fitment.

 

Bad idea. Heater hose is not designed for use with oil, (ATF) which will bloat the heater hose and eventually leak again- likely much more quickly than the OEM hose went.
It has to be a hose designed for use with oil, not just any hose.

 

Did you notice the price of the pressure hose? 369.06! bought one about ten years ago for 15$ from checker and its worked great. It's still on the vehicle. If you can get the pressure hose after market, someone will carry a replacement for the return line.

 

yeah I put a replacement pressure hose on it when I did the motor; it had actually split and was dripping down onto the frame


and yeah I know that heater hose wont work I've seen people use that for trans cooler lines before... didn't last a week, LMAO



I'm going to call the local dealer tomorrow and see what their cost is; I just looked this up and seen that price...


I REALLY want to get it replaced ASAP before it bursts and sprays ATF all over my hot header

Considering the OEM hose lasted what...20 years? Spend the money get the proper hose.

 

So it's the hose that supplies fluid to the pump? It's not under any significant pressure so using an appropriately rated hose should be fine.
The only one that sees high pressure is the one from the pump to the steering box.
