just got an 87 xtra cab for a hundred bucks but the afm is missing. i got it to fire up dumping some gas down a vacuum and it sounded pretty rough so i was wondering if i could temporarily rig my 3vze afm on there to see how it runs befor i put any time or money into the motor.

 

MIGHT work for starting it but certainly not for running it properly.

thanks for the help i didnt figure it would work good if it did work but the plug looks the same so mabey ill get time to try it out tommarow. and thanks olharleyman i might i really want to see if its worth any time or money tho first cuz ive got a low miles 20r that runs real good that im considering dropping in there

 

Did you test the AFM?

I think he's asking if you tested the v6 afm on the 22re

 

tried it out tonight turns out it does not work but a 22re will somehow run with no afm at all. after messing around with it i found a blown fuse replaced that and now it will fire right up and idle but obviously the throttle response is horrible and itll cut out and die randomly but does run.
