Any new info on sulfur smell 4th gen

Any info on this. Could we have to live with this as long as own the 4runner. Some say it gas and others maybe muffler. But why dont other suv smell this bad. Is it a mistake toyota made?
If I could figure a way to lock the rear window down only when he drives it , would be a great deterent for my teenage son if he ever drives it with a heavy foot.

Its not Toyota's fault for making a real efficient cat, its the gas companies fault for not refining it good enough. But the gov't is making all gas companies reduce their sulfur content this year so it will go away once that happens.

Actually talked to the service manager at the dealership on Friday. They have had 2 arbitrations on the smell coming from Corolla owners. The owners lost both times.

Apparently, it is directly related to the amount of suplhur in the fuel, and the worst states in the country (highest sulphur content) are Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Yea, you take it in and complain about it... The service guy tells you "that's normal."
I tried to use the TSB against them, that's what it states.

current gas has lots of sulfur in them and the new vehicles comes with a great exhaust system that's able to breakdown the particles better. the downside is that we smell the sulfur.

This seems to be evident for alot of the new vehicles so it's not just a toyota 4runner issue. I've heard other mfg's with the same problem.

Word is that they are suppose to change the gas so the exhaust doesn't exhaust alot of sulfur but who knows...
