PowderCoated rims/wheels...opinions and input

Aloha,

I have a white 97 runner and just found out I have a hook up to get my wheels powder coated for $25 a piece.

1. Is this a good price?
2. Who has pics of their powder coated rims, hopefully on a white runner like mine.

Thanks in advance.

Mahalo,

I have seen a few runners with them powdercoated and it looks sick.

Yes, that is about half of what it usually cost.

You going to wheel your 4runner, or just drive on the street?..........

Wheel = powdercoat = dumb idea period

Street = powdercoat = meh

Either way you can paint your wheels yourself and get good results for around the price of powdercoating 1 wheel.

yeah just troll around in the streets, expect for my snowboarding and surfing expeditions...but yeah, i think it has potential to look kick a...and id paint them myself, but the quality and durability of powder coating is better...

Price sounds great... what colour would you get?
buddy of mine has a powdercoat shop and he can even do metal finishes like gold/chrome/etc.
FYI unless you have a pimpin' funfur interior and fake leg pipes don't go gold it's just too pimp daddy.

Who you going to for that price? I'd do it for sure IF that includes media blasting. If not, then the powder coat won't hold up like it's supposed to.

That's a big reason powder coating gets such a bad rep. It's from people who did it the cheap way instead of prepping correctly. If done right, powder coat can stand up to a LOT more than paint. Powder coated my mountain bike 2 years ago and have taken it most anywhere. Only scratch or chip on it came from when I wrecked into my 4Runner front bumper being dumb. It falls in the same principle of not sanding and prepping before painting a car. It'll just flake and peel if not done right.
