Question 22RE Cam

I want to install a more aggressive cam in my '88 pickup's 22re. I just did some head work on it a few months ago. I installed downey headers and full 2.25" exhaust and I am going to do my own version of the deckplate mod to my airbox. Everyone says a cam will make exhaust and intake mods come alive. I just replaced all the gaskets, seals, etc. and do not want to have to buy a new head gasket again.
Did I miss my chance to do this? :pat:
Will I have to replace the HG to install a more aggressive cam?
Does anyone have any suggestions for 22re cams?
Thanks.

You don't have to replace the heag gasket to do the cam, you do have to take the head bolts out though. If your careful you can do it. There are a bunch of cams out there to choose from, I got a Crane Cam... I have heard good things about Engine Builders cam and even the Downey Cam.

Thanks! Thats what I wanted to hear. I was thinking about getting either an EB cam or a LCE cam. Any suggestions?

Ive got a 1994 Toyota pickup with a 22re, i was wanting to put a cam in it, but i wanted to know what you decided to do with yours, and how it affected everything. Was it worth the money?

I would say go engnbldr, LCE is cool but very pricey. Talk to Ted and tell him what you do with the truck, and he'll recommend a cam for your application
