Dynomax superturbo mufflers rock
#1
After reading all the posts there are about mufflers I finally decided to go to the shop to get myself a new muffler last week. The shop I went to had a pretty good selection of mufflers and lucky me they had the superturbo which I had pretty much decided on already. I stuck with the stock pipes except I had them slice off a good chunk of the endpipe and weld in an stainless 18" long tip with 3" slant cut opening which looks just great because you dont see the old pipes or the weld unless you look under the truck and the stainless tip with the bigger opening just makes the truck look that much better. Right after I got it I drove it around and had a big ol grin on my face the whole time. Awesome sound the superturbo makes, not too loud but definitely not too soft and its a very clean deep throaty sound, not like the distorted crackling noise ricers make. Makes the truck sound truly like something with some muscle to it. Performance wise, I definitely notice a little something more power as miniscule as it may be, especially when climbing hills. Also I noticed that I can now cruise at higher speeds with slightly lower rpms than before. For example before at around 2500 rpm I was around 70mph but now at 2500 I can cruise at like 75. More power, better sounds/look, as if that wasnt enough I filled up for the first time since getting the muffler and checked the mileage and at first glance it looks like ive gained almost 2 whole mpg! Damn my old muffler must have been stuffed with newspapers or something. So yea I just wanted to share this with you guys since you helped me with my decision and to tell anybody thinking about getting a free flow muffler to go for it. Its a great investment for the money with nothing but positives. Its been a little over a week since I got it and everytime I start up the truck I still get a big grin everytime.
Thanks again for all the info everybody's put up on the board. Y'all been a great help!

That mileage increase has perked my interest. I would assume (because it's what I would do) that you were a little heavy footed on that tank to hear the rumble.
And still you gained... How much did you put down all total if you don't mind me asking?

Justa lil bit o lead foot in the beginning testing it out and still doing so a week later.
I paid around 130 for everything because I got everything from the shop. You could probably do it for cheaper buying it online and having a shop weld it but it would only have been a few bucks for me so I just did it all at the shop. Wish I could put up pics, been wanting to put up pics of my truck for a while but I got no camera.

yup its a 3rd gen. I was kinda overestimating the numbers a bit to make it easier butl to be more exact it was a bit lower than 2500 at 70, maybe more like 2300 or so but definitely not 2000 rpms. Not that big a thing but I'm curious what everybody else is getting? Oh and my 3rd gen is 4wd, does that make a difference? Maybe the little bit of extra weight?

Hey Henryv,
I'm curious do you by any chance have the part number for the Dynomax you got? I'm planning on getting one very soon, and I don't know which one to get (Size, pipe size, pipe offsets) So any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
