The other day it stopped working.

It will not go up or down. I drove somewhere, opened the window, opened the back door. Put tires in the back (only mentioning this since I read on 4crawler that pressure back there against panel can cause switch problem, not the case), closed door and started closing window. About half way rolled up, it started going SLOWLY, and I had to push it up as I turned the key. It was an effort, but I got it closed. Now, when I try to open it (using key or switch inside), it tries to engage for a split second, then shuts down. Trying to move it up or down gives the same result. I removed the panel from inside and I can see the top 'half-sprocket' trying to move, but it almost looks like it jams and stops immediately feeling the tension. I cannot tell if the window is off the track but I suspect not. I dont want to take it to the dealer but without any help here I will. Any ideas?

Open up the access panel in the tail gate and see what is going on. Also try some dry silicone pray to lube the rubber the window slides in. And check the voltage at the motor. If that is dropping too low then the motor will not have sufficient torque to move the window. If that is the case, look for wiring issues or relay replacement. An alternate test is to apply +12 volts and ground directly to the motor and see if it works OK then. If so, wiring or relays is the likely cause of the problem.

 

there was a thread on here a while back about this... I think the guy swapped out the relays for some heavier duty ones, and that fised the problem.
