PU Hood Scoops / Aftermarket Hoods
Sooooo. With the ST2 getting a heart transplant, and me refusing to do the 3" body lift, we're having a whole lot of fun trying to fit everything up under the hood. Gonna have to chop the tranny tunnel (clear the 350 -> toy tranny adapter's bellhousing), move the rad back to the tube bed somewhere (get some room up front), and hack the back of the firewall about 2" (clear the distributor).
Pretty much got everything figured out except for the fact that there's gonna hardly any room for the carb, let alone an air cleaner. So I've been toying (hah, pun not intended) with the idea of slapping a hood scoop or getting an aftermarket hood with a 3-4" bulge so I can clear that air cleaner and give the motor a little room for heat dissipation and whatnot.
So, does anyone have any experience with hoodscoops or aftermarket hoods for 84-89 pickups?

might look cool if you could find a hoodscoop off of a subaru WRX... itll be tall enough and if postioned right should allow you to run a smaller air cleaner assembly without having to do MAJOR surgery to your hood...
plus it would just look damn cool...

Why the refusal to do a body lift? It will help with keeping wind coming by the block more. And illeviate all the hood clearance problems and most of the firewall problems I would imagine.
But if you refuse to do a body lift I think a cowl induction hood would help with your clearance a lot and also give the hot air an easy route to escape. I probably wouldn't do a front facing scoop if I went in any mud or water. I've been wanting to put a small cowl hood on mine just for cooling purposes. My electric fan pulls cool air through the radiator but then it doesn't really have anywhere to go.

From: Yotatech, because Pirate is too expensive. NorCal.
cuz body lifts are gay. lololol
EDIT: I see you have a body lift. No offence. lol. Lower cg and you know you wont have a problem with it if you leave it stock.
