Rim Width for 33x10.5x15 BFG's?
Gents,
I have searched on this, but can't find much on a rim width recommendation for 33x10.5x15's. 15x7 or 15x8. I am buying new rims, black rock crawlers.
Thanks,
Mike

id go with the 8's.. the 7's would give you a tighter bead, but the 8's give you the option of running wider tires later on if you want. plus i ran my 35"x10.50 boggers on 8's and they were fine. its only an inch lol

Moved to Tires/Wheels.
TOYOTA 1 is right on.
If it were me I'd go with 8"ers.
Gives you more options later on if you want to go to a larger tire and will be easier to sell later on if the time comes.
If you're sure you aren't going to go bigger later on then I don't see why not to go with a 7" rim.

Not to mention if you have stock 7" wide rims (isnt that what most yota trucks are ?) the tire will bulge alot, Not a big problem with 10.5's but if you go wider you could rub on A arms and stuff

I run mine on stock 15x6 wide wheels:

BFG lists recommended widths of 7"-9":

4 Crawler, I've been thinking of doing exactly this with the stock wheels on my '86. Do the tires wear funny in the center from being ballooned, or can you not really tell the difference...? (I did read your page that you linked to, but was unclear what exactly resolved the balloning.)
Also, did you have to run a wheel spacer to prevent the tires from rubbing the frame at full turn? I'd go with 33x9.5's instead, but they don't sell the mud terrain in that size, and back home in AK I grew to intensely dislike the A/T tread on ice and in mud. (which is all we had there lol) Being in AZ now there's no ice and barely any mud, but it's ingrained at this point lol.

OK thanks
That answers my question then... I'll probably just want to go get wheels with less backspacing and a proper 7 inch width. That'll also give me the option of going up to 16's and running a 255/85R-16, which there seems to be a wider variety of.
