Cool oil/fuel/temp gauge help

The oil pressure gauge does not work on my 4runner. The fuel gauge works only when the tank is full. after 50 or or so miles and goes down to empty, and the temp gauge always shows the same temperature. Even when car is cold. I replaced the oil and fuel sending units but it still doesn't work. Could it be the cluster that is causing the problems? Is there anything else that I should try before replacing the cluster? THA

well at my local u pull a cluster is about 40 bucks, and if you dont have an SR5 cluster with a tach you can do it now! seems cheap enough, and i think its the fuel sending unit in the tank for your gas guage,

I do have the SR5 cluster since the truck is a SR5. I replaced the fuel sending unit and it still doesnt work. It's just weird that none of the gauges work(except speed and tach).

I think i'm going to install an aftermarket water temp gauge, just to be sure its working. I dont really trust the stock gauges now.

I did the same thing. Installed some little SunPro temp and oil pressure guages and later added a small tach since mine didn't have one.

When multiple pieces of equipment are acting up at the same time it's usually a grounding problem.

I did clean the terminals. I dont think it's a grounding issue. The only gauge that is completely dead is the oil press. The water temp goes to middle as soon as the truck is started, and fuel gauge goes to full when i refuel for 50 miles then down to empty. Speed and tach are fine.

There is a troubleshooting procedure here: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../6combinat.pdf

I wouldn't be too sure that your three problems are related. Once you've checked the very easy (fuses, etc.), you need to be systematic. Does your oil pressure sender work at all? Does your fuel gauge act correctly under test conditions? You can pick out the easier tests to do first, but in the end you're going to have to eliminate the problems one at at time.

Good luck!
