NEWBIE..Spindle nut Question on 88 Pickup????
Well I think I have narrowed it down to the fact that a slight bit of movement in my left side upper/lower ball joints is causing a bunch of vibration/chattering in my steeering wheel/front of truck????
Have Checked all u-joints/drive shaft etc etc......because at about 35mph it starts vibrating like crazy- chattter my teeth!!!
1.So after alot of reading..... is it correct I first need a OTC 54MM spindle wrench to remove spindle nut???
If so where in the heck do you buy one because Napa, Sears and every other tool/autostore store in jacksonville dont have one??
Also tried callin Marlin Crawler and the phone just gives me busy signal??
2.. Can i use just a normal 2 1/8 socket - will it fit in hub or do you need the special OTC spindle wrench????
Any help would be appreciated - !!!
Bought 88 truck in decent shape and going to work on getting it lookin good with SAS and 350 near future...
Right now just like to get it not rattlin my teeth out.
Also... DAGGUM you boys got lot of good info posted on this site!!!
Any help would be appreciated -Thanks Scott Vickery....

A 2-1/8" socket should fit (= 53.975mm) as long as it has fairly thin walls.
Or if you have a Harbor Freight store, check there. I picked up a whole set of large metric sockets for under $40 and it has the 24mm (drain plugs), 30mm (pinion flange nuts) and 54mm sizes in it.

THANKS for some HELP!!!!!!!!
I found a 54MM aka 2 1/8 at the local Northern Tools..but I wasn't sure it would fit in hub...
I was ALSO thinking that it would require THIN wall socket if it was to work.
I drive by HARBOR FRIEGHT on the way to NORTHERN so I will check there first(probably cheaper..
I just was unsure if a NORMAL socket would work at all??
Thanks..........again.
