Talking getting a sammi for offroad only

hey all, just curiouse on how you felt on a sammi/yota hybrid for off road use, the 4 runner is to heavy to pull everywhere i want to go, and i cant afford to insure it to drive it there, so im gonna sell it.

i figure if i find a sammie for a good deal i can get a front yota axle, already have the rear, and be set!

anyone have any experience with sammys?
can you swap a 22re into them realitvly easy, cause i have a extra engine/ecu i can use!

thanks
wade

www.spidertrax.com is a great resource for Samurai off-road mods. They built my replacement rear lower control arms on my 4Runner and I've been very impressed with everything about them and their shop.

Wade, another source for some Sami stuff is Jeff @ Badland Bumpers in our state.

He has a Sami that's also used as a trail rig, and I think he is making bumpers and armour for them too.

yeah, i think that a sammi/yota hybrid would be the best thing for me, it will be light, and easy to pull, while still having enough toyota to keep me happy!

those bumpers look cool, im going to look into that when i get the sammi

and the hubs are already sold, sorry!

You're probably going to want to SEARCH pirate for the hot setup for a sammy.

sammie

if you go sammie . and want to put toy axles in it you need to change the transfercase because the sammie case to the rear is offset to one sideand does'nt come out at the middle like toys.So you need to change it all, 22r tranny and case with the axles.

There are a couple of pretty rediculous Sammy's at Paragon. Ask this question on the Paragon Board and you'll get some good stuff.

Yeah get you a sammie. Just go with a spring over conversion or better yet if you have some money go with coils. I have a buddy that has a built up sammie and that thing will go anywhere you want it to. It has detriots front and back, low tcase gears, and only 31" tires. This thing will hang with the big boys though, most just laugh when we pull up. But when we show the jeeps with 35" tires and 6" lift up on a level 4 trail, then they have respect for us. That little sammie will walk up anything. Thats gonna be my next toy in the future.

Oh yeah! I would love to put one these together some day. A sammy hardtop with a VW turbo diesel conversion, spring over, 6.1 t-case gears, dual ARBs, 31" tires, armored up, and ready for upper heldorado!.

toyota axle in sami.

wade you can put a 79-85 toyota front axle in your sami your getting. the spring perches are the same width from left to right + you get a free spring over. sami's are spring under. with the toyota drivetrian you'll have a real bullet proof rig. with the toyota engine you'll have almost twice the horsepower. i was thinking of doing the same thing my one friend just blew up his sami.
