Near the tip of the exhaust pipe on the 03 Runners, it looks like a small second muffler.

If it's on the exhaust, it's a noise suppressor.

Whisle Tips

ALBPM: I understand that that only hapens in the morning and it is only to make sure someone is awoken to make breakfast. It has the same affect of an alarm clock "Wooo Wooo" At least thats what Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis state in their highly informative interview in Oakland.

I've seen what you're talking about and it looks like a resonator to me. Which means that it's tuned to remove a certain frequency of exhaust noise (probably a low annoying hum).

It came with a gasket and bolts. It goes up over the axel and replaces the existing rear muffler and pipe. It just bolts on.

Sil- Move to Japan

I don't have the url available right now but when I get home I'll post it for you. It's a TRD USA site although I got mine from Toyota Japan. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get it, as I don't think anyone has tried.

Sil,

Here is one TRD site with the muffler type that may get you started. http://www.toyota-trd.com/en/suv/4runner.html

Here is the one I got from Toyota: www.toyota.co.jp/dop-hiluxsurf/ then click Exterior dress Up and scroll to the bottom.

Of course you do. And since the muffler is always after the cat, this will not cause you to fail emissions. Your good to go.
